Meet Our Animals: Tulip & Poppy

Hello! Our names are Tulip & Poppy.  We are Giant Flemish Rabbits

Birthdate: March 2026

Weight: 10 pounds, will grow to be 15-25 pounds

Color: Blue Gray

Giant Flemish Rabbits:

    • Grow to be 2.5 to 4 feet long and weigh between 15 and 22 pounds.
    • They have massive, upright ears that can grow over 6 inches long. These ears work like a built-in air conditioner to help keep them cool in the summer.
    • Thanks to their giant ears and big eyes, they can hear sounds up to 2 miles away and can easily spot things moving around them.
    • Girl rabbits (called does) have a special fold of skin under their chins called a dewlap. They use it like a warm blanket to keep their babies cozy.
    • Their soft, glossy fur comes in seven official colors: black, blue (a pretty gray-blue), fawn (pale yellowish-brown), sandy, light gray, steel gray, and white.

Personality & Behavior

    • They are incredibly relaxed, patient, and lazy. They love to spend their days taking long naps and lounging around the house.
    •  Just like a cat, these smart bunnies can easily learn to use a litter box!
    • They are so sweet and tolerant that they will often hop right up to you to cuddle or let you use them as a giant, furry pillow.

Diet & Care

    • Because they are so huge, they eat a lot! An adult Flemish Giant can drink as much water as a 25-pound dog every day.
    • Their favorite food is Timothy hay. They need to eat a pile of hay as big as their own body every single day to keep their tummies healthy and wear down their constantly growing teeth.
    • Even though they are huge, their backs are actually very fragile. If they get scared or dropped, they can get hurt easily, so it is best to pet them while they are relaxing on the floor rather than picking them up
